Today is National Coming Out Day, a day when both members and supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community celebrate their identities, show pride in who they are, and demonstrate advocacy for gay rights. This day is an important reminder that everyone should be free to be who they are, and that we all deserve to be treated with respect.

Supporters like yourself and millions of others around the nation advocate that everyone should be free to be their authentic selves, and that love is love, no matter what form it takes. Most importantly, this day is meant to send a message of love and acceptance to those who are still “in the closet.”

LGBTQIA+ Pride

Gay pride has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the gay rights movement of the 1970s, though there’s still a long way to go before everyone is truly equal. Today, gay pride is celebrated all over the world, with massive parades and festivals that attract millions of people. And while there is still much progress to be made in terms of LGBTQIA+ rights, National Coming Out Day is a reminder that the LGBTQIA+ rights movement has made incredible progress in recent years.

So today, let’s celebrate all of the progress we’ve made, and recommit ourselves to the fight for equality for all. We’ll keep fighting until everyone can live their truth freely and without fear.

Support For Those Who are Ready to Come Out

For many people, coming out as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or any other LGBTQA+ identity can be a scary and difficult experience. But it is so important to remember that you are not alone. There are so many resources and support systems available to help you through this process.

Here are just a few of the organizations that offer support for LGBTQA+ people:

✤ The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is a national organization that works to promote understanding and acceptance of LGBTQA+ people.

✤ The Trevor Project is a national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQA+ young people.

✤ The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is a national organization that works to promote equality for LGBTQA+ people.

There are also many local organizations and support groups that can provide assistance. Do some research to find the resources that are available in your area. Remember, you are not alone. There is a whole community of people who are here to support you!

You should have known that we were going to start with the famous Shirley Temple virgin cocktail. Made with carbonated lemon lime soda (or ginger ale) and a splash of grenadine, garnished with a maraschino cherry, and served over ice, this delicious Easter-friendly mocktail is always a hit among both kids and adults. Pregnant women especially appreciate the sweetness of this delightful drink!

Fun fact, the drink itself was named after the famous actress, Shirley Temple, but its creator is debated. Typically credited to a 1930’s bartender at Hollywood’s Chasen’s Restaurant, there is a hotel in Hawaii that also claims rights to the drink’s origin.

Roy Rogers

If a Shirley Temple mocktail is a little too childish for your taste, upgrade to a Roy Rogers. All you have to do is swap out the carbonated lemon lime soda for regular carbonated cola. Virgin Bloody Mary

Origin of Cocktails in the United States

Dining Out for Life Indianapolis 2021 – June 17th

Returning for the 27^th time here in Indianapolis, and hosted by the Damien Center, Dining Out for Life will be here this Thursday, June 17^th working their efforts to raise money and promote advocacy for HIV care and prevention! In operation from 8am to 11pm, this is only a one-day event, so be sure to show your support by visiting any of the partnered bars, restaurants, and breweries, like English Ivy’s Eatery and Pub! By giving your business to these pubs and eateries, you are also donating to the Dining Out for Life cause. All proceeds raised during this amazing Dining Out for Life event goes directly to their HIV care and prevention programs.

With one simple click of a button, you can buy tickets at a discounted rate to 8 different cultural attractions offered in Indianapolis. How to Get the Pass

Getting the Indy Attraction Pass is easy! Just visit the Indianapolis Attraction Pass portal and add your desired package to your cart. Use debit, credit, or Apple Pay, or Paypal to complete your purchase. You can purchase a one-day pass, or go all out with a 3 day pass. The 1 Day Attraction Pass is $48 for adults and $37 for kids, and it is valid for 24 hours after first use.
